Preparing for hearts day

Our sweet friend Kim took valentines day pictures for us a few weeks ago. Aren't they the sweetest!?!
Kim is great! She always gets something and her pictures always turn out great. I am just so amazed by her talent every single time. You can check out her website here

We decorated valentines cookies tonight.
I am pretty sure that Ellie and Annie's favorite part of the night was eating the m&ms and chocolate chips...but hey it's only valentines once a year right!?
Here are some pictures from our night...

Snow day!!!

We have waited all week and we finally got our snow.
Hooray!
Yesterday we got to our safe place around 230 and waited and waited. Then FINALLY around 745 it started. It looked like a blizzard. We were all so excited we ran out and had a snow party.  It was the perfect snow....wet enough for snow balls and snowmen and didn't last too long to get you stir crazy.
Now I just need to get it across to God that I have had my feel of winter weather. It was fun and I had fun but now I'm over it and ready for spring :)

A visit to Mcwane

It had been before Christmas since we went to Mcwane and I have been telling Ellie that we would go so we took a trip downtown on Monday.
It was a quiet day there and besides one or two small field trips the girls pretty much had it to themselves.

Their new favorite thing is the "hurricane" that feels like its going to blow you away.
Here are pictures from it...

Miss Annie has really taken a liking for the Mcwane center.
It's so crazy to me but she remembered things that were there last time we went and not there now.
She kept holding her arm out saying " oh...choo-choo...mama?"

No snow day

Since we all thought we were going to be snowed in and we weren't....
We just acted like we were.
We stayed home all day...
Ordered pizza...
And played with cousins...

River loves to play " tie me to this chair and see how fast I can get out game"
And boy is he fast! I thought I had him good today and he was out before I sat down on the couch...

To tell or not to tell

With all this talk of snow tonight it has me contemplating if I should tell Ellie or not.
She gets just beside herself with the talk of snow and with this crazy alabama weather I feel like it could really go either way...
She was so disappointed last week when we had flurries and no accumulation.
She kept wanting to put her snow clothes on so she could go out. I think she thought if she put her snow clothes on then the snow would just appear :)
It is no wonder tome that she is like she is because her daddy is the exact same was about winter weather :)

Zoo day!

What a beautiful day we had today!
I am so thankful when we have pretty days like this in the middle of the winter. It reminds me spring is coming and oh how I love spring!
We spent a great day at the zoo with our cousins. We were celebrating baby Jamie's 8th birthday! They had such a great time running and playing with each other. Annie hasn't been to the zoo since she has been old enough to really get into it but boy did she get into it. She had a blast running and squealing and checking out the animals.

So we took a back way to the predators house...
On the way there was this bowl sitting over to the side of the walk way.
As I walked up to Ellie she was chewing on something and I heard her say something about grapes.
Little missy decided to help herself to some of the grapes in the bowl that I am assuming were for or left over from the animals. Gross!!!

Other than that things were pretty laid back and uneventful....

First week of February

I am pretty excited that January is long gone and February is here! I feel like we are getting even closer to springtime since January is over. I am ready for warmer weather and to look out the window and see some color out there... I know it will be here soon just not soon enough for me.

Our week was and has been pretty uneventful...
We have been working on the floors in the dining room.
Hopefully this time tomorrow night we will have tile in there!
Say a prayer...

Miss Annie had her first piggy tails yesterday and I am telling you...they made her look like such a big girl. She didn't look like a baby anymore. It's crazy how much a new hair do can change the way you look :)
I have been trying to teach her that she is one and hold up one finger but when I tell her...."Annie you are one" she tells me " I baby" silly girl!
She has been so sweet and fun lately. She us starting being ok with getting down and playing and being a little more independent. She loves playing with her baby doll. There is one in particle that she just loves to pieces. It has long hair and she loves to carry it around by its hair...poor baby...

Ellie aka know as little monkey has just been itching yo be outside this week.
This cold weather just drives her crazy.
Today we went outside and played for a while and was was just as happy as could be.
She spent a lot of time in her favorite tree:) I asked her if she wanted to get down and play on the swing set and she said " no...I think I will just sleep up here. Don't worry mommy the wolves and tigers can't get me up here" I don't know where she gets some of these things.

Tomorrow is suppose to be great outside....
We are planning on meeting our cousins at the zoo...yay!

This and that

Things have been pretty slow around here lately...
It's crazy how things can be so slow but time still moves so fast...

We have been talking about updating a few things in out kitchen for the last year or so and we have finally gotten brave enough to start...
We got granite countertops put in week before last and this weekend we started the big project....the tile. We are redoing the tile in the dining room, kitchen and laundry room.
It's an overwhelming project but after the countertop was in I was so anxious to get it started....
And so now it's started :)

On another note....
I found the Girl Scouts this weekend!!!
Matt I talked myself out of these last year and have spent the whole year regretting it.
This year I couldn't wait to get me some thin mints....they were great and now I'm pretty certain I won't pass them up again!
